Capturing a baby’s first birthday is always special, and this cake smash session in Edmonton was filled with real moments, laughter, and a little bit of mess — just how it should be.
Like many first-time sessions, the baby was a bit uneasy at the beginning. That’s completely normal — new environment, new faces, and a big camera can be overwhelming.
To ease things naturally, I guided the parents to interact first. I asked them to dip their hands into the cake and start engaging with it. Once they did, the baby became curious and slowly started to explore the cake on her own.
And that’s when the magic started ✨
